Lower School
Our Lower School encompasses students from Pre-Kindergarten 3 through Grade 4. Our faculty work to ensure that they are not only nurturing social and emotional development, but also supporting the academic potential of each student. At this level, St. John’s mission statement is incorporated with every aspect of life at school, with a strong emphasis on kindness, honesty, respect, and compassion.
Within our Lower School, our experienced and creative faculty challenge and support each child to maximize individual growth and achievement. They differentiate and individualize content, skills, and experiences to encourage critical and creative thinking as well as essential academic skills in all of our students.
Students spend roughly two-thirds of the day in a homeroom-based program learning Reading, Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies, and leave homeroom for Spanish, Music, Visual Arts, Physical Education, Religion, Library/Media Technology, and STEM — attending Chapel weekly.
